It is our policy not to reveal author information. However,
we are happy to forward email on your behalf. You should direct
your email to our publicity department with the author’s
name in the subject line.
How do I submit a manuscript?
Due to the volume of material received, L&S cannot accept
unsolicited manuscripts or manuscripts that do not come through
a literary agent. All editorial inquiries from established
literary agents should be emailed
to the editorial department.
How can I get permission to excerpt part of a book published by Long &
Silverman Publishing, Inc. in my own work or publication?
All books, articles and materials published by Long & Silverman Publishing, Inc. are fully protected under the copyright laws of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and all British Commonwealth countries, as well as all other countries that are members of the International Copyright Union, the Pan-American Copyright Convention and the Universal Copyright Convention.
It is a legal requirement to obtain written permission to reproduce any
L&S work in any form. Please be aware that “Fair
Use” is based on how the text is used, and not the
number of words. If you have any question as to whether or
not the material qualifies as fair use, you must contact us
in advance.
We grant permissions only in writing upon receipt of detailed written
requests. You may email
or fax your request to the attention of the Permissions Department
at (509) 275-9448. You should note that immediate requests
mandate additional charges that will vary. It is therefore
imperative that you begin the permissions process as early
as possible.

Incomplete requests will not be processed. It will take approximately 3 weeks from the date of your request to receive a response. The time frame varies depending on the number of requests waiting to be processed. Each request is evaluated on an individual basis and in most cases a fee will be charged. As a policy, we do not discuss fees prior to permission being granted.

Can I quote from an L&S book?
No part of an L&S book may be reproduced without written permission from L&S, except in the case of brief quotations embodied in articles or critical reviews.

United States and Canada. How can I order an L&S title for
resale?
If you have an account with Long & Silverman Publishing,
please fax a purchase order to (509) 275-9448 or submit
it via email. Purchase orders must include customer's
complete billing & shipping addresses, including postal
codes. Also, please include a contact name, telephone number,
fax number and email address.
If you do not have an established account with L&S, prepayment
is required. L&S accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express,
wire transfer, or bank check (US FUNDS ONLY). L&S does
not accept Travelers Cheques. Please email

A note on international shipping:
Freight forwarders are preferred but not required on foreign
orders. If there is no freight forwarder, L&S will ship
your order via FedEx International. All freight is paid by
the customer. Returns will not be accepted.

L&S books are available from our author websites and sold at most bookstores, online, or in your neighborhood. If a store does not have the book you are looking for in stock, they will usually special order it for you.

How do I return or exchange items?
Any L&S book in print may be returned without permission, freight prepaid and in saleable condition with proper documentation for full credit after 120 days from invoice date. Books returned after one year of invoice and books returned without proper documentation (see definition of full credit below) will be credited at a 65% discount. When we receive returns containing 3 or more unsaleable items, we will fax you a notification form. You will have 15 days to claim the books; after 15 days they will be donated.
Important Notes:
- Credit for returns will be applied to your account balance
or against future purchases. There are NO cash refunds.
- Shipments will not be made to past due accounts.
- Please examine our invoices and shipments carefully and
report any discrepancies. Notice of shortage or non-receipt
must be made within thirty days of the shipping/invoice
date for domestic shipments; sixty days for foreign.
- All annuals and calendars must be returned no later than
three months after the succeeding edition is published.
- “In print” means the edition in our current
catalog.
- “Saleable condition” means a book undamaged
in any way, shape or form.
- Books damaged in transit are not the responsibility of
the publisher. Please make claim to carrier.
- “Full credit” means we will credit your account
for the purchase price. The following documentation must
accompany each return for full credit: invoice number, date,
title, list price and your account number. Returns not
accompanied by this information will be credited at a 65%
discount. There are NO cash refunds.
- “Without permission” means no L&S authorization
required.
- “After 120 days” means that you must hold
the books you ordered for that designated time period. Please
include a packing slip with every shipment. Books not eligible
for credit will be donated after 15 days or returned at
your expense.
